About the Role
Collaborate with X project teams to experiment and build novel AI technology for mental health; rapidly develop prototypes of machine learning models applied to mental health; apply cutting-edge large language model (LLM) methodologies to build and deploy data and training pipelines; assess and recommend areas to de-risk projects; contribute to technology roadmap decisions and project execution; work cross-functionally with experts across X, Google DeepMind, Alphabet, and academia; engage with the intern community through tech talks, colloquium, and learning moonshot thinking; participate in a flexible 4-month to 1-year residency program embedded in confidential or public X projects.
About You
Required:
- Currently enrolled as a Masters or PhD student in a Computer Science program.
- Working experience with large language models (LLMs), Transformer architectures, and data pipelines.
- Fluent in Python and machine learning APIs such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to gather and analyze large quantities of information and provide insightful technical prioritization and recommendations.
- Excellent problem stating and problem solving skills, capable of breaking down ambiguous problems independently.
- Can-do attitude with willingness to learn new tools and content to effectively collaborate with project teams.
- Excellent communication skills including experience writing strategy documents and delivering presentations.
- Motivated to solve problems in the mental health space using technology.
Preferred:
- Ability to thrive in ambiguous, fast-changing environments by setting and delivering own goals.
- Adept at influencing without authority and working cross-functionally to drive decision making.
- Experience using distributed computing resources such as GCP, AWS, Azure, or HPC clusters.
- Previous experience working or volunteering in the mental health space.
