Summary
Virginia Department of Transportation is seeking an Inspector Construction to join their team in Staunton, VA. The role involves inspecting all phases of highway construction and maintenance projects to ensure quality and compliance with plans and specifications.
About the Role
As an Inspector Construction, you will communicate with VDOT and external support staff, manage public relations, ensure construction compliance with contracts and regulations, maintain project documentation, oversee project safety and environmental compliance, and may train and oversee other inspectors.
About You
Required:
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing with VDOT and contractor personnel and the general public.
- Ability to maintain detailed records, prepare reports and maintain project files.
- Ability to read, interpret and analyze roadway, structure and bridge plans, specifications and contract documents.
- Experience in construction, civil engineering, project management or materials inspection.
- Knowledge of mathematics to include algebra, geometry and trigonometry.
- Possession of or ability to obtain required certifications within 12 months of employment.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- A combination of training, experience, or education in Engineering, Drafting, or related field desired.
- American Concrete Institute (ACI) Concrete Field Level I (CCWA) OR WACEL Concrete I Certification.
- Experience in highway and bridge construction inspection with a DOT or consultant inspection firm.
- Proficient in AASHTOWare Project (AWP) or other project management software.
