Summary
California Department of Justice is seeking an Appeals, Writs, and Trials Attorney to join their team in Fresno, CA. The role involves representing the People of the State of California in felony criminal appeals and trials.
About the Role
As an Appeals, Writs, and Trials Attorney, you will work as either an appellate attorney or trial prosecutor. Appellate DAGs will handle felony criminal appeals and related writs, including death penalty cases, and may also engage in federal habeas corpus litigation. Trial DAGs will independently investigate and prosecute felony and misdemeanor cases, working with various law enforcement agencies and managing all aspects of trial work. Strong legal research and writing skills are essential, and the role may require travel for trials.
About You
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active membership in the California State Bar.
- Experience in felony trial work or appellate litigation.
Preferred:
- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Ability to manage time effectively under tight deadlines.
- Experience with federal habeas corpus litigation.
