True Environmental is seeking an Archaeology Field Technician to join their team in Ventura, CA. The role involves monitoring remedial excavation and serving as the primary Archaeological Monitor at the Carpinteria Oil and Gas Processing Facility.
About the Role
As an Archaeology Field Technician, you will conduct daily archaeological construction monitoring, provide Cultural Resource Awareness Training, recognize discoveries, and manage on-site Tribal monitors. You will also assist with subsurface excavations and laboratory analysis as needed, working under the Project Archaeologist and alongside other professionals.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Archaeology, Anthropology or related field
- 2+ years’ experience conducting archaeological monitoring and interacting with Tribal monitors
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well with others and be a proactive part of a project team
- Excellent attention to detail and detailed note taking skills
- A valid driver's license
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Ability to lift and move materials and equipment up to 50 pounds on occasion
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug screen
Preferred:
- Good familiarity with Santa Barbara County cultural assemblage
- Ability to operate GPS units and navigate using USGS maps/aerial photography, and compass
- 40-hour HAZWOPER training is nice, but can be provided
- Solid experience with identification of human remains
