About the Role
As an ASL VRI & Onsite Freelance Interpreter, you will be responsible for interpreting between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English, ensuring compliance with licensure and certification requirements, and adhering to the NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct. You will work in a fast-paced environment, demonstrating a strong understanding of deaf culture and the social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing individuals.
About You
Required:
- Effectively interpret between American Sign Language (ASL) and spoken English.
- Maintain compliance with national, state, or local licensure and/or certification requirements.
- Adhere to guidelines for NAD-RID Code of Professional Conduct.
- Possess the ability to quickly learn and implement new and changing technologies.
- Demonstrate willingness and ability to complete additional duties and assignments on an ongoing basis.
- Proficient computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets, email, electronic scheduling, and internet.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and within a team.
Preferred:
- Understanding of deaf culture and social experiences of deaf and hard of hearing persons.
- Experience working in a highly regulated environment.
