Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas is seeking an Assistant General Counsel (General Counsel I) to join their team in Austin, TX. The role involves performing moderately complex legal work, including interpreting laws, preparing legal documents, and assisting with procurement contracts.
About the Role
As an Assistant General Counsel, you will be responsible for planning and organizing legal work, rendering advice, drafting memoranda, and administrative rules for the Texas Register. You will also assist the agency with reviewing procurement contracts and drafting and reviewing agreements. This position reports directly to the General Counsel and allows for some initiative and independent judgment.
About You
Required:
Graduation from an accredited law school with a JD degree.
A minimum of three (3) years legal work experience as a licensed attorney at a Texas State agency.
Must be licensed to practice law in the state of Texas and be a member in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
Experience working on state agency procurements, Public Information Act requests, and drafting contract agreements.
Preferred:
Knowledge of the Texas Public Information Act and other open government laws.
Knowledge of Texas procurement laws and rules.
Knowledge of administrative law.
Knowledge of state government contract law.
Benefits
Standard Monday - Friday work schedule with potential for telework up to 20 hours per week.
Competitive salary range of $76,530 - $129,430.
