Withum is seeking an Assistant General Counsel to join their team, supporting the firm’s commercial contracting, privacy, compliance, and legal operations functions. This role can be performed remotely or in any of their offices nationwide.
About the Role
As the Assistant General Counsel, you will draft, review, and negotiate various client and vendor agreements, analyze contractual risks, and provide guidance to partners. You will also support privacy and compliance requirements, collaborate with IT and risk management teams, and help modernize legal workflows by integrating technology. This position requires building strong relationships across service lines and contributing to the long-term development of the legal department.
About You
Required:
J.D. from an accredited law school.
6–8 years of relevant legal experience, preferably in a law firm or in-house role supporting professional services.
Admission to a U.S. state bar in good standing.
Significant commercial contracting experience, including risk allocation and data protection terms.
Working knowledge of U.S. privacy and data security laws.
Strong business judgment and ability to make risk-based decisions independently.
Exceptional organizational skills and ability to manage high contracting volume.
Executive-level written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:
Experience improving legal workflows or implementing legal technology tools.
Familiarity with contract lifecycle management (CLM) systems or AI-assisted contract review platforms.
A collaborative, solutions-oriented mindset.
