About the Role
As an Assistant Professor of Dramatic Writing, you will be responsible for teaching beginner and intermediate courses in playwriting and script analysis, as well as potentially other courses in global dramatic literature and new play development. You will also advise undergraduate and graduate students and participate in departmental service and governance.
About You
Required:
- MFA or other relevant advanced degree (e.g., PhD, DFA) in Playwriting, Creative Writing, or related field by August 17, 2026.
- Professional experience writing for theatre or other media (e.g., film, television, fiction-based video and audio content).
- Knowledge of playwriting and dramaturgical principles.
- Experience teaching students and/or professional artists.
Preferred:
- At least 3 years teaching experience at the university level.
- Experience teaching or mentoring emerging writers.
- Experience teaching dramatic literature, script analysis, or other theatre and performance courses at the university level.
