Mapbox is seeking an Associate General Counsel - Product/Commercial to join their legal team in Washington, DC. The role involves providing legal support for complex commercial transactions and product counseling in a fast-paced technology environment.
About the Role
As an Associate General Counsel, you will be responsible for handling complex data in-licenses, customer sales, and automotive OEM deals. You will work closely with product and engineering teams to draft agreements that reflect specific customer use cases and technical implementations. This role requires strong drafting and communication skills, as well as the ability to mitigate and accept risk in commercial transactions. You will also participate in improving operational processes within the legal department to support Mapbox's growth.
About You
Required:
- 7+ years of practicing attorney experience, with 2+ years at a top-tier law firm and 5+ years in-house at a technology company.
- JD degree from a top-tier law school and active membership in at least one US state bar.
- Extensive experience working with APIs and SDKs.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Preferred:
- Experience in software patent litigation or patent prosecution.
- Prior work in a pre-IPO company.
- A technical degree in computer engineering, computer science, or a related field.
