Personnel Board of Jefferson County is seeking an Automotive Technician (Heavy Equipment) to join their team in Greater Birmingham, Alabama Area. The role involves performing journeyman-level tasks in the mechanical repair and maintenance of heavy equipment.
About the Role
As an Automotive Technician (Heavy Equipment), you will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy equipment such as graders, bulldozers, and backhoes. You will work under the direction of a supervisor, using independent judgment to determine repair methods. Your duties will include performing maintenance on hydraulic systems, conducting preventive maintenance, and fabricating parts as needed.
About You
Required:
Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or the ability to obtain a CDL within 180 days of hire.
Experience in diagnosing and repairing diesel and gasoline engines.
Preferred:
Completion of coursework or certification program in automotive technology.
Experience with electrical repairs on automobiles and trucks.
