About the Role
As a Basketball Specialist, you will teach basketball fundamentals, plan and facilitate skills and drills, implement game play and tournaments, and engage youth in organized social games. You will also perform administrative duties, communicate regularly with the Borough Coordinator and Site Directors, and ensure age-appropriate activities are implemented. Additionally, you will monitor youth interactions, act as a mandated child abuse reporter, and represent the agency positively in the community.
About You
Required:
- A minimum of two years of academic preparation in physical education, exercise science, sports management, or equivalent training.
- A minimum of two years of work experience in a non-profit youth or social service agency with supervisory experience.
- Previous basketball coaching/playing experience.
- Demonstrated skills and competency as an instructor and coach.
- Good communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred:
- Understanding of conflict resolution, mediation, and mentoring concepts.
- Familiarity with administrative protocols involving dress, demeanor, record keeping, and reporting.
