Mount Auburn Hospital is seeking a Behavioral Health Patient Care Associate to join their team on a part-time basis during day shifts. The role involves providing direct care to patients in a 15-bed inpatient geriatric psychiatry unit, supporting their physical and emotional needs.
About the Role
As a Behavioral Health Patient Care Associate, you will provide direct physical care assisting patients with activities of daily living such as nutrition, hygiene, hydration, elimination, mobility, and comfort. You will perform vital signs, weights, intake/output measurements, and document assessments in EPIC. You will report changes in patients' physical and mental conditions, participate in evaluating patient needs and carrying out treatment and behavioral plans, maintain a safe and clean environment, respond to patient call lights, care for equipment, participate in milieu groups and activities, provide one-to-one patient observation as needed, transport discharged patients, and monitor patient whereabouts with assigned checks. You may also perform phlebotomy, EKGs, and glucometry as requested by nursing staff, all while adhering to unit, hospital, and nursing policies.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Verbal, quantitative, and interpersonal skills to evaluate patients' physical and emotional needs.
- Strong oral and interpersonal communication skills to accurately transfer clinical information.
- Ability to maintain annual competencies and up-to-date BLS certification.
- Ability to walk and stand for up to 90% of work time, push and pull heavy objects including patients, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform fine motor control tasks and accurate keyboarding skills.
Preferred:
- Related experience in a health care setting or pursuing a degree in a related field.
