Summary
New London Public Schools is seeking a Bilingual Transition Liaison (Part-Time, Non-Exempt) to support bilingual students and their families as they transition into the high school environment.
About the Role
As a Bilingual Transition Liaison, you will assist newly enrolled bilingual students with their transition into the school environment, facilitate access to counselors and academic programs, and support families in understanding graduation requirements. You will serve as an interpreter during meetings and translate key documents to ensure effective communication between non-English-speaking families and the school community. Additionally, you will collaborate with school staff to identify barriers to student success and help plan family engagement events.
About You
Required:
- Bilingual in Spanish and English with strong oral and written communication skills in both languages.
- Cultural competence and sensitivity to the needs of diverse student populations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, students, and families.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a school or educational setting.
- Familiarity with the high school education system and student support services.
- Experience with interpretation and translation in an educational context.
