Summary
ITT Cannon is seeking a Buyer to join their team in Orchard Park, NY. The Buyer is responsible for purchasing and the tactical management of assigned suppliers and/or categories from receipt of planning requirements to payment of invoice.
About the Role
As a Buyer, you will be responsible for strategic purchasing and negotiating materials, equipment, and supplies. Your daily tasks will include soliciting bids, analyzing quotes, conducting cost/price analyses, and managing supplier performance. You will also identify and implement ideas for performance improvement and cost savings, while providing training and mentorship to less experienced buyers.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree preferred with minimum 3-5 years of purchasing experience.
- Demonstrated long-term agreement negotiations with suppliers.
- Broad knowledge of the market and technical knowledge of materials and equipment.
- Strong process and technical familiarity with modern ERP/MRPII or automated purchasing systems like Oracle.
- Advanced level skills in Excel (pivot tables, macros, managing large volumes of data).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
Preferred:
- Multi-lingual capabilities.
- Ability to travel, including some domestic or international overnight travel.
