About the Role
As the Chief Counsel, you will serve as the strategic, proactive lead counsel for GRS’s Global Office of Underwriting, providing legal guidance on underwriting strategies, risk governance, and product development. You will coordinate legal input across Global Legal & Compliance, advise on complex issues, and represent GL&C in key committees. Your responsibilities will include managing legal, regulatory, and reputational risks, and ensuring effective governance and escalation pathways.
About You
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school; active bar membership in good standing.
- 10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience, including significant in-house or law firm experience advising global P&C insurers or reinsurers on underwriting, product, and risk governance.
- Expertise across commercial lines; demonstrated experience with complex underwriting issues, product development, and emerging risks.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of enterprise risk management frameworks and principles; experience contributing to or leading risk committees and cross-functional governance bodies.
- Exceptional analytical, research, and writing skills; proven ability to translate regulatory developments into actionable, business-oriented guidance.
