Summary
Gusto is seeking a Chief Economist to lead their Insights Group in the Greater Phoenix Area. The role involves defining and executing a research agenda that generates insightful knowledge about small businesses and their workforce.
About the Role
As the Chief Economist, you will partner with various teams to develop a research agenda on entrepreneurship and labor trends. Your responsibilities include conducting quantitative analysis, designing reports, implementing AI tools to enhance research output, and representing Gusto in external communications. You will also stay updated on relevant academic literature and form partnerships with external organizations.
About You
Required:
- Graduate degree in Economics or related quantitative discipline; Ph.D. preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills tailored to diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience with media interviews.
- Advanced quantitative analysis skills, including proficiency in Python and SQL.
- Experience with AI-powered coding and writing workflows.
Preferred:
- Experience leading a high-performing team of economists or data scientists.
- Knowledge of survey design and qualitative methods.
- Experience with manipulating and analyzing administrative data.
