Summary
FLACRA is seeking a COC Peer Coordinator to join their team in Fingerlakes, NY. The role involves providing peer support services to clients and families dealing with serious mental illness and substance abuse.
About the Role
As a COC Peer Coordinator, you will engage with individuals experiencing homelessness, provide immediate support and harm reduction resources, and assist clients in developing recovery plans. You will conduct street outreach, build trusting relationships, and serve as a liaison between clients and service providers. Your responsibilities will include distributing basic needs supplies, providing psycho-education, and maintaining accurate records on all assigned cases.
About You
Required:
- Completion of NY state-certified peer support specialist training through OMH and OASAS.
- CRPA-P/CRPA and/or NYCPS Certifications.
- Lived experience in recovery from mental illness or substance use.
Preferred:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Good interpersonal skills and written and oral communication skills.
- Knowledge of applicable population group and principles/philosophy of recovery.
