Genesee Education Consultant Services (GECS) is seeking a Communication Access Facilitator to join their team at the Michigan School for the Deaf in Flint, MI. The role involves facilitating communication access for staff and students, including interpreting between Deaf/Hard of Hearing and Hearing persons.
About the Role
As a Communication Access Facilitator, you will interpret communications in various settings, including IEP Team meetings, vocational classrooms, and standardized tests. You will support students in career technical education courses and ensure they understand the presented material. The position requires maintaining records and performing related tasks as assigned.
About You
Required:
High School Diploma
Standard level 2 certification with medical/mental health endorsement
Valid Michigan Interpreter Certification meeting the Educational Standard for either Pre-K through grade 6 or grade 7 through age 26 with an IEP, or both
Preferred:
Standard level 3 certification with Legal, medical/mental health endorsement
Ability to maintain compliance with the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf Code of Professional Conduct
Ability to fluently interpret communications between hearing persons and Deaf and hard of hearing persons
