About the Role
As a Correctional Officer I, you will undergo intensive training, starting with a week of observation at the correctional facility, followed by six weeks at the Vermont Correctional Academy. Your responsibilities will include maintaining security, supervising inmates, and adhering to safety protocols. You will work on a 2-2-3 schedule, allowing for a better work-life balance with predictable rotations and fewer workdays per year.
About You
Required:
- High school graduation or equivalent AND two (2) years or more full-time work experience.
- OR one (1) year or more of college level course work AND one (1) year or more of full-time work experience.
- OR two (2) years or more of college level course work.
- Adequate physical condition to perform essential functions of the job.
Preferred:
- Experience working in a correctional setting.
- Military experience.
