Summary
State of Indiana is seeking a Correctional Training Officer to join their team at the Wabash Valley Correctional Facility in Carlisle, IN. The role involves providing specialized instruction for new and veteran employees in a correctional setting.
About the Role
As a Correctional Training Officer, you will conduct and assist in training for all staff, develop training curricula, evaluate trainee performance, and ensure compliance with training standards. You will work under the supervision of the Facility Superintendent and coordinate with adjunct trainers and subject matter specialists.
About You
Required:
- High School Diploma or High School Equivalent (HSE).
- Two (2) years of full-time experience in corrections, education, in-service training, or related experience.
- Working knowledge of principles and practices of Staff Development and Training Division including Administrative Procedures.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to present and execute detailed lesson plans.
Preferred:
- Working knowledge of 'Adult Learning' principles.
- Working knowledge of training correctional issues, treatment programs, custody issues, ACA standards and departmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to successfully complete all required training, including the Train the Trainer programs.
