About the Role
As a Corrections Counselor 1, you will be responsible for interviewing inmates, assisting with their institutional adjustment, providing referrals and guidance for social, educational, and vocational skills, and managing an inmate caseload. You will also analyze assessments, participate in parole planning, and make recommendations on re-entry services.
About You
Required:
- Three years and six months as a corrections officer, and 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
- A bachelor’s degree in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA.
Preferred:
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes 18 college credits in sociology, counseling, psychology, social work, corrections, criminal justice, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain Commonwealth Law Enforcement Assistance Network (CLEAN) and Pennsylvania Justice Network (JNET) certification within two months of employment.
Benefits
- Starting annual salary of $55,436.00 (before taxes).
- Full-time employment with a 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
