Brown University Health is seeking a Phlebotomist Outreach Float to join their team in Providence, RI. The role involves obtaining blood and various other patient specimens in accordance with department procedures.
About the Role
As a Phlebotomist Outreach Float, you will perform responsibilities associated with obtaining blood samples and other patient specimens, ensuring proper collection and documentation. You will work with pediatric and adult patients, transport specimens, and maintain records while fostering patient-centered care. Your duties will include patient registration, scheduling venipunctures, and adhering to hospital policies and universal precautions.
About You
Required:
High school diploma or GED required.
Phlebotomy certificate through National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences or completion of a Phlebotomy certificate program with a formal internship demonstrating 100 successful venipunctures.
Ability to perform venipuncture techniques and capillary puncture on adults, children, and infants.
Preferred:
6 months of phlebotomy experience may be considered in lieu of internship.
5 plus years of direct phlebotomy experience may be considered in lieu of phlebotomy certification.
Interpersonal skills to effectively explain procedures to patients.
