- Advanced degree in art history with emphasis on modern and contemporary art and expertise in painting and sculpture.
- Fifteen years of museum experience including organizational and managerial experience.
- Excellent written communication and public speaking skills.
- Ability to effectively manage staff.
- Ability to visually inspect works of art.
- Language skills in addition to English.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in developing and leading modern and contemporary art programs.

With this project, we are transforming not just the museum's physical presence, but also our contributions to the community, enhancing SFMOMA's role as a place for learning, inspiration, and interaction for visitors from the Bay Area and beyond. We are making SFMOMA a magnet for contemporary art and for the audiences who will engage with it.
