City of New Haven is seeking a Deputy Fire Chief to join their team in New Haven, CT. The role involves responsible supervisory and professional firefighting work on a citywide basis, commanding all firefighting forces on an assigned shift.
About the Role
As a Deputy Fire Chief, you will direct all firefighting personnel and equipment on a shift, respond to fire alarms in high-risk areas, and maintain command at fire scenes. You will also be responsible for hiring back employees during manpower shortages, investigating hazardous spills, and arranging inspections for fire prevention. Your work will be performed under the supervision of an Assistant Fire Chief and will be reviewed through reports and observations.
About You
Required:
Graduation from high school.
Two years in Civil Service rank of Battalion Chief in the New Haven Fire Department.
Preferred:
Considerable knowledge of the rules and regulations of the New Haven Fire Department.
Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
