Charles Schwab is seeking a Director Legal Counsel, Commercial Transactions to lead complex commercial transactions and enhance the contract operating model in Westlake, TX.
About the Role
As the Director Legal Counsel, you will be responsible for overseeing contract negotiations for Schwab's commercial agreements, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations, and driving process optimization initiatives. You will work closely with various stakeholders to align business objectives with legal requirements, support risk management, and implement innovative solutions to improve contracting efficiency.
About You
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) and active bar admission in at least one U.S. state.
- 7+ years of legal experience, including 3+ years in-house (financial services experience strongly preferred).
- Extensive experience negotiating complex commercial agreements.
- Demonstrated ability to balance risk and business objectives.
- Proven execution mindset with ownership of complex workstreams.
- Strong executive communication skills.
Preferred:
- Deep experience with technology sourcing transactions and licensing.
- Demonstrated program management skills.
- Comfort supporting or leading change management and implementing legal operations improvements.
