Inversion is seeking a Director of Engineering, Processing Core to lead the development of software and hardware for their next-generation spacecraft in Los Angeles, CA. The role involves overseeing the flight computer and control systems essential for autonomous space transportation.
About the Role
As the Director of Engineering for the Processing Core team, you will be responsible for the technical development of the flight computer and flight software systems. This includes leading a team of engineers, managing the architecture and execution of systems, and ensuring the integration of these systems into Inversion's spacecraft. You will report directly to the Chief Technology Officer and implement innovative solutions for space transportation.
About You
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or equivalent industry experience with a minimum of 10+ years in engineering complex computation systems.
Industry leadership experience managing interdisciplinary teams and making program-level technical decisions.
Proven experience in deploying critical software infrastructure and high-reliability systems.
Successful track record of taking projects from design through deployment into production.
Strong ability to translate customer requirements into reliable engineering outcomes.
Solid understanding of Operating System implementation fundamentals.
Strong communication skills and the ability to inspire team members.
Preferred:
Excellent C, C++, and/or Rust coding ability for embedded systems.
Experience with embedded Linux kernel, driver, and firmware development.
Demonstrated experience developing embedded software for autonomous flight vehicles, satellites, rockets, or robotics.
Experience with cryptography for platform security and secure software stacks.
Knowledge of hardware architecture and assembly language programming.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret clearance.
