Summary
Durham County Government is seeking a Director of Internal Audit to oversee the Internal Audit function and ensure compliance and performance improvement across county programs.
About the Role
As the Director of Internal Audit, you will be responsible for supervising the Internal Audit staff, conducting performance audits, developing an annual Audit Plan, and producing clear and concise Internal Audit reports. You will also coordinate investigations of fraud, waste, and abuse, and ensure that the Internal Audit function aligns with industry best practices.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
- Eight years of internal auditing services with at least five years of progressive experience in performance audits or financial auditing.
- Five years of experience operating under Generally Accepted Governmental Audit Standards (GAGAS).
- Four years of supervisory experience.
Preferred:
- Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) or Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
- Strong ability to research and analyze data.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively, orally and in writing.
