Counsel Health is seeking a Director of People & Operations to build their human resources and internal operational infrastructure in New York City, NY or Boston, MA.
About the Role
As the Director of People & Operations, you will be responsible for owning and running core People Operations activities, serving as a first-line point of contact for employees, building and improving People processes, ensuring compliance with employment laws, and collaborating cross-functionally on people-related initiatives. You will also audit existing workflows to identify gaps and build necessary systems.
About You
Required:
- 8-10+ years in HR/People Operations with a proven track record of building departments from scratch in a startup environment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a focus on professionalism and empathy.
- Detail-oriented with a strong understanding of licensing and compliance.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with health-tech, clinician contracting (1099 vs. W2), and the regulatory landscape of digital health.
- Experience using AI-powered tools and modern HR technology, ideally Rippling.
