Summary
The Hartford is seeking a Director Software Engineering to oversee the development and maintenance of their Claims application ecosystem. This pivotal role involves driving modernization and operational excellence of Claims systems built on a modern tech stack.
About the Role
As the Director Software Engineering, you will lead a team of Tech Leads, Senior Developers, Business Analysts, and Scrum Masters. Your responsibilities include managing end-to-end application development, overseeing architecture and design decisions, collaborating with business stakeholders, ensuring adherence to best practices, and driving continuous improvement in system performance and user experience. This position requires a hybrid work schedule, with in-office work expected three days a week.
About You
Required:
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise application development, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong hands-on experience with ASP.Net C#, MS SQL, Angular (SPA).
- Good experience with AWS Cloud services like CloudFront, S3, API Gateway, Lambda.
- Proven track record of managing distributed teams and delivering complex projects in an Agile environment.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills.
Preferred:
- Deep understanding of Claims processes and systems in the Insurance industry.
- Experience with DevOps pipelines and CI/CD automation.
- Familiarity with security and compliance standards in the insurance domain.
- Prior experience modernizing legacy systems into cloud-native architectures.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher (Preferably in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field).
