City of Boerne is seeking a Dispatcher I to join their Dispatch department in Boerne, Texas. The role involves operating and maintaining a central point for receiving emergency and non-emergency information.
About the Role
As a Dispatcher I, you will be responsible for receiving and relaying emergency and non-emergency information via various communication methods, maintaining accurate logs, dispatching personnel, and ensuring effective communication between the public and emergency services. You will also operate telecommunications equipment and may be required to testify in court.
About You
Required:
High school graduation or equivalent.
At least one year of experience in emergency telecommunications operations or equivalent combination of experience and training.
Valid Texas Driver's License and must be bondable.
Must possess the State of Texas TCOLE Basic Telecommunications Operator Certification.
Preferred:
Knowledge of FCC rules and procedures for radio transmission.
Ability to handle multiple situations simultaneously and make quick decisions under stress.
Good short-term memory and typing skills (35 wpm).
