WSP in the U.S. is seeking an Early Career Structural Engineer to provide technical assistance in the design, development, and construction of building and infrastructure projects in both public and private sectors.
About the Role
Under general supervision, assist with collecting and analyzing data from various sources for project development, design, and construction. Perform basic professional structural engineering tasks including research and inspections to ensure compliance with applicable standards and permits. Provide entry-level technical assistance on design requirements and operating strategies to ensure safety and functionality. Generate accurate documentation using electronic systems and drawings. Comply with safety guidelines and complete assigned training. Adhere to company policies and perform additional responsibilities as needed.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
- 0 to 1 years of relevant post-education experience.
- Excellent research skills with an analytical mindset.
- Familiarity with design/build processes and relevant structural and civil construction laws, codes, and regulations.
- Competent interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
- Proficient self-leadership with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work independently under general supervision and as part of a team.
- Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, spreadsheets, and discipline-specific design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS).
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and adherence to health, safety, and conduct policies.
- Ability to work flexible schedules and occasional travel as required.
Preferred:
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior internship related to the degree and engineering discipline.
- Membership or active participation in local professional practice organizations.
