Summary
Allen Control Systems is seeking a Staff Electrical Engineer, Embedded Systems to join their team in Austin, TX. The role involves designing and developing electrical systems and embedded software for autonomous defense applications.
About the Role
As a Staff Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for creating detailed electrical schematics and PCB layouts, developing real-time embedded software in C++ and Python, performing simulations for signal integrity and thermal management, and collaborating with mechanical and software teams for electromechanical integration. You will also lead PCB design, maintain documentation, conduct testing and debugging, and optimize performance for hardware-constrained platforms.
About You
Required:
- 9+ years of experience in electrical and firmware design, including schematic design, software, electrical simulation, and PCB layout.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Strong background in embedded software with 5+ years of experience in real-time, safety-critical systems.
- Proficiency in C++ and Python for embedded systems.
Preferred:
- Knowledge of microcontroller-based control systems including power conversion and motor drive.
- Experience with simulation software (e.g., SPICE, ANSYS Electronics).
- Hands-on experience with testing methodologies and protocols for military standards.
- Familiarity with embedded Linux and RTOS environments.
