Summary
Global Support and Development is seeking an Emergency Telecommunications Specialist to join their team in Charlotte, NC. The role involves serving as a technical leader and project manager for the Response Coordination program, ensuring efficient and sustainable emergency telecommunications services.
About the Role
As an Emergency Telecommunications Specialist, you will lead the assessment, design, and implementation of essential IT infrastructure to support humanitarian operations. You will oversee emergency telecommunications and critical IT components, improve preparedness of local authorities, and manage a network of specialists to enhance local expertise. The position requires significant travel to the Caribbean and Central America.
About You
Required:
- Ten (10) or more years of relevant work experience in emergency telecommunications, preferably in the humanitarian sector.
- Five (5) or more years experience operating in emergency telecommunications in an international context.
- Proven experience designing and managing sustainable projects in accordance with international project management standards.
- Professional experience in running large Telecom/ICT Support Operations in an international humanitarian context.
- Five (5) years of experience in the design, installation, configuring, and troubleshooting of communications and IT infrastructure systems.
- Five (5) years of experience in installing and programming HF base and mobile stations and VHF/UHF analog and digital equipment.
- Two (2) years of experience in installing, configuring, and troubleshooting analog and digital PABXs and IPBXs/VoIP systems.
Preferred:
- Demonstrated experience working and leading technical projects in the Caribbean region.
- Master of Science or Engineering in Telecommunications Network Systems, IT/Computer networks, Information Systems Management or Computer Science applications.
- Part 107 License, ITIL 3 certification, and certification in project management.
