LiquidPiston is seeking an Engine Design Engineer to join their team in Bloomfield, CT. The role involves developing groundbreaking engine systems and components from initial concept through prototyping, validation, and production.
About the Role
As an Engine Design Engineer, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, analyze, and optimize high-performance subsystems focusing on efficiency, weight, durability, manufacturability, and cost-effectiveness. Key responsibilities include conducting feasibility studies, creating 3D CAD models using SolidWorks, performing design validation activities, and supporting sourcing efforts related to component manufacturing.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 3+ years of experience in engine design, preferably in automotive, aerospace, marine, or power generation industries.
- Working knowledge of thermodynamics, combustion, and fluid mechanics.
- Experience with engine performance modeling tools (GT-Power, AVL, ANSYS, etc.).
- Strong understanding of DFM principles and production processes.
Preferred:
- Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing, and data analysis.
- Familiarity with product development tools including MS Project, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
