Summary
Rocketship Public Schools is seeking an English as a Second Language Specialist to join their team in Nashville, TN. The role involves working in the Language and Learning Lab to support ESL students in achieving excellence in their language skills.
About the Role
As an ESL Specialist, you will administer WIDA assessments, create progress monitoring tools, and ensure a language-rich environment. You will collaborate with classroom teachers to implement Universal Design and ELL principles, hold community meetings, and design daily lessons focused on speaking, listening, reading, and writing. Your responsibilities also include analyzing WIDA data and reporting progress to families.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's Degree
- TN Elementary K-6 teaching credential or a full credential to transfer in from out of state
- TN English as a Second Language K-12 Endorsement
- Fluency in English
- Commitment to Rocketship's mission, vision, and goals
Preferred:
- Previous experience managing and/or teaching groups of elementary-age students
- Basic computer skills including troubleshooting
