Summary
QinetiQ US is seeking an Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist for the VA Region to support day-to-day EHS activities at their Reston and Lorton, VA facilities.
About the Role
As an EHS Specialist, you will ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, support employee engagement in safe work practices, and assist with risk mitigation across office and engineering workspaces. Your responsibilities will include conducting safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments, maintaining EHS records, coordinating incident responses, and collaborating with various teams to implement safety programs.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of EHS experience in an office, light manufacturing, or government/defense support setting.
- Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and state/local safety and environmental regulations.
- Strong organizational and documentation skills with attention to detail.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across functions and employee levels.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Ability to travel regionally (~2–3 days/month) and conduct 1–2 week annual trips to remote sites.
- Must be able to obtain a U.S. government security clearance if required.
Preferred:
- EHS certifications (e.g., OSHA 30, GSP, CHST, or similar).
- Familiarity with industrial hygiene principles, ergonomic assessments, or environmental compliance.
- Experience conducting safety audits or field site visits.
- Exposure to defense or government contractor environments.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required.
