Summary
Vela Insurance Services (a Berkley Company) is seeking an Executive Underwriter to join their team in Scottsdale, AZ. The role involves evaluating and maintaining risk acceptability and profitability for commercial risks, focusing on non-admitted General Liability and Manufacturing and Products Liability.
About the Role
As an Executive Underwriter, you will be responsible for gathering underwriting information, determining coverages and pricing, reviewing claims, and maintaining relationships with Wholesale Brokers. You will also assist in building appetite and risk selection guidelines for new classes of business and ensure adherence to underwriting authority levels.
About You
Required:
- Four (4) year College Degree, or commensurate experience and training.
- Minimum of 10 years’ commercial lines underwriting experience.
- Strong experience in Excess & Surplus Lines and Wholesale Brokerage Distribution.
Preferred:
- Preferred industry designations such as CPCU, ASLI, ARM, etc.
- Strong sales acumen and drive.
