About the Role
Fellows will work closely with attorneys on complex internet privacy, security, e-commerce, and surveillance legal issues, providing client counseling, assisting with litigation, investigations, and data breaches. They will engage in client development, speaking and writing engagements, blogging, marketing, and contribute to firm materials and events. The program includes a low billable hour requirement to allow participation in regulatory hearings, meetings, and external working groups. The Skylark Fellowship includes additional community engagement, mentorship, and representation at privacy organizations and events.
About You
Required:
- Graduated from law school or will graduate by June 2026.
- Taken or plan to take the bar exam before or near start date.
- Strong interest in technology and relevant coursework in data privacy, cybersecurity, AI, or related fields.
- Ability to provide high-quality legal analysis in a concise and cogent manner.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, able to work in a fast-paced environment, eager to learn.
- Willingness to relocate to Washington, DC area and work onsite 3-4 days per week.
Preferred:
- Experience working with technology companies, privacy or civil liberties organizations, or regulatory agencies.
- Interest in community engagement, mentorship, and public service (especially for Skylark Fellowship).
- Strong communication skills for client development, speaking, writing, and marketing.
- Sense of humor and desire to work hard and have fun.
