About the Role
As a Fiber Tech Apprentice, you will work under the guidance of experienced technicians to learn and perform various tasks associated with fiber optic installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Your responsibilities will include adhering to safety regulations, assisting in repairs and installations, troubleshooting network issues, and maintaining a clean work environment. You are expected to demonstrate proficiency in all responsibilities of a Fiber Tech 1 within six months.
About You
Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of telecommunications and fiber optic technology.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity.
- Ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Willingness to learn and take direction from senior technicians.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work well within a team.
- Valid driver's license.
Preferred:
- Completion of a vocational program in telecommunications or related fields.
- Previous experience in a construction or technical field.
- Familiarity with basic hand tools and test equipment.
- Understanding of safety protocols and procedures.
- Eagerness to obtain relevant certifications in fiber optic splicing and installation.
- Flexibility to work weekends, evenings, and participate in on-call rotations as needed.
