State of Oklahoma is seeking a Fire Prevention & Security Officer to perform inspection and security duties at state facilities in Oklahoma City, OK, focusing on fire hazard elimination, law enforcement, and protection against terrorism.
About the Role
The role involves patrolling and inspecting buildings and grounds to detect and eliminate fire hazards, enforcing rules and regulations, responding to fire alarms, apprehending violators, assisting employees and visitors, directing traffic, ventilating buildings during emergencies, securing premises, and preparing reports. At advanced levels, duties include carrying firearms, anti-terrorism activities, detaining suspects, operating weapon screening posts, and investigating suspicious acts.
About You
Required:
For Level I: No education or experience required; basic knowledge of security methods and fire prevention theory; ability to follow instructions and evaluate emergency situations.
For Level III: Basic security and/or firefighter course; three years of experience in security or fire prevention and protection work; or six months of security experience plus current armed security guard licensure through CLEET.
Ability to establish effective working relationships and enforce security regulations.
Willingness and ability to perform job-related travel.
Preferred:
Knowledge of general law enforcement principles and practices.
Familiarity with state and federal laws related to public safety and criminal conduct.
Experience in conducting investigations and emergency response procedures.
