Summary

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. is seeking a Flight Test Engineer to join their Flight Operations Team in Palmdale, California. The role focuses on Flight Test Coordination of Developmental Test and evaluation of emerging airframe, software, hardware, and payload capabilities.

About the Role

As a Flight Test Engineer, you will be responsible for coordinating flight test activities, conducting technical reviews of flight test plans, and performing safety analysis on test plans and flight test run cards. You will work closely with System Design Engineers and Test & Evaluation pilots, chair the Developmental Test Safety Review Board, and ensure adherence to test plans in a dynamic environment. Additional responsibilities include authoring technical documents, representing Flight Operations on various boards, and performing the duties of Test Director when required.

About You

Required:

Bachelor's degree, master's degree, or PhD in engineering or a related technical discipline.
Four or more years of experience as a Flight Test Engineer with a bachelor's degree or two or more years with a master's degree.
Experience working on fixed wing aircraft and in test and evaluation of stability control systems and autopilot systems.
Ability to create, write, review, and execute detailed test plans and reports.

Preferred:

Unmanned Air Vehicle/System flight test experience.
Possession of a Private Pilot license.
Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
