Origin is seeking a Forward Deployment Intern to join their team in New York, NY. The role involves designing and executing experimental protocols for autonomous robots in the construction industry.
About the Role
As a Robotics Deployment & Experimentation Intern at Origin, you will design and execute experimental protocols integrating mechanical systems, embedded hardware, ROS-based control software, and computer vision. You will collaborate with the engineering team to build and maintain test setups, execute experiments, analyze data, and document results, contributing directly to the development of AI-powered construction robots.
About You
Required:
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Robotics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
Hands-on experience with robotics projects, demonstrating an ability to work across different engineering disciplines.
Familiarity with embedded systems programming using platforms like Arduino or Raspberry Pi.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and documentation skills.
Preferred:
Experience with vision or SLAM on mobile robots.
Knowledge of construction workflows (drywall, painting, MEP).
Basic understanding of Design of Experiments (DOE).
