Meela Inc. is seeking a Founding Engineer to join their team in New York City. The role involves architecting and building full-stack features for an AI voice companion designed for seniors.
About the Role
As a Founding Engineer, you will architect and build full-stack features across a voice-first AI platform, design reliable infrastructure for AI companions, and collaborate with the CEO and CTO on product strategy and technical design. You will also continuously improve the AI quality through data tooling and iteration on memory and conversation flows.
About You
Required:
- Full-stack engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
- Fluency in Python and ReactJS, with confidence in modern web frameworks and API design.
- Experience or deep interest in LLMs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and/or conversational AI systems.
- Strong product intuition and ability to translate user experience into technical architecture.
Preferred:
- Experience working in early-stage environments or shipping entire systems solo.
- A mind for scalable design, clean abstractions, and operational excellence.
- A builder's spirit, being hands-on, proactive, and taking ownership like a founder.
- Deep alignment with the mission to improve the lives of older adults.
