Bindwell is seeking a Founding Machine Learning Engineering Scientist to join their team in San Francisco, CA. The role involves building foundational biochemistry models and creating a continuous data feedback loop between model predictions and physical experiments.
About the Role
As a Founding Machine Learning Engineering Scientist, you will use your understanding of machine learning to develop models that aim to replace the need for wet-lab experiments. Your responsibilities will include designing, training, and refining biomolecular interaction models, assembling high-quality training data, analyzing model weaknesses, and leading the design of future models for chemical R&D.
About You
Required:
Solid practical ML engineering and software engineering fundamentals (Python, PyTorch/JAX/TensorFlow, NumPy/SciPy).
Proven track record of designing, building, and validating novel ML model architectures and training techniques.
Strong foundation in mathematics, algorithms, statistics, and data science principles.
Familiar with SQL and building datasets for ML.
Preferred:
Experience working with biochemical or structural biology datasets.
Exposure to foundation models in bio (e.g., AlphaFold, ESM, RoseTTAFold, ProtBert).
Experience working with LLM agents.
Experience managing large training runs on GPU clusters.
