About the Role
As a Free Speech Forum Head Counselor, you will be responsible for overseeing the counselor team, managing daily operations, and ensuring a positive environment aligned with FIRE's mission. Your duties will include providing mentorship, coordinating logistics, and addressing any issues that arise during the program. This is a fully residential role requiring commitment from June 21 to June 27, 2026.
About You
Required:
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to think quickly and creatively solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working effectively as part of a team.
- Comfort and experience working with high school students in an educational setting.
- Ability to commit fully to the head counselor role with no other personal or professional commitments during the program period.
Preferred:
- Prior experience serving as a counselor at the FIRE Free Speech Forum.
- Experience working with children or adolescents in structured environments.
- Experience supervising or mentoring others.
- Experience attending universities in the United States, preferably undergraduates or recent graduates.
- Prior attendance at FIRE events.
Benefits
- Compensation at a rate of $20 per hour, including overtime where applicable.
- Expected to work up to 110 hours total, including training.
- Travel, meals, and lodging provided for training.
