Summary
York Archaeology is seeking a Geoarchaeologist (Supervisor, Project Officer, Project Manager) to join their team in York, IL. The role involves delivering commercial archaeological services and contributing to the Geoarchaeology team's expansion.
About the Role
As a Geoarchaeologist, you will be responsible for managing and executing geoarchaeological projects, ensuring client satisfaction, and contributing to public engagement and research initiatives. You will work alongside skilled professionals in various archaeological sub-disciplines and may be involved in fieldwork, laboratory work, and project management.
About You
Required:
- Degree in Geoarchaeology, Quaternary Science or relevant subject or equivalent experience.
- Detailed understanding of British commercial archaeology and geoarchaeological field techniques for managers/Project Officers.
- Understanding of British commercial archaeology and geoarchaeological techniques for supervisors.
- Computer literacy, including CAD/GIS and ideally Rockworks software for PM/PO level applicants.
- Ability to work without close supervision and excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to carry out prolonged manual work in an outdoor environment.
- Driving licence.
Preferred:
- Familiarity with geoarchaeological laboratory work including pollen, insects, microfossils, and sediment analysis for Project Officers.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing skills for Project Officers.
- Creativity in designing and implementing improved systems and processes for Managers.
- Experience of report writing to publication level for Managers.
- Experience of initiation, costing, and management of geoarchaeology projects for Managers.
