Summary
WSP in the U.S. is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer to join their Geotechnical and Tunneling Team, with positions available in various locations across New England.
About the Role
As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will perform and coordinate field observations and special inspections of subsurface investigations in soils and rock. You will be responsible for geotechnical engineering design and analyses for various structures, preparing geotechnical memoranda and reports, and collaborating with other disciplines and project partners. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the preparation of reports and contract documents and developing geotechnical work in New England.
About You
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a concentration in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering, or a closely-related field.
- 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
- Extensive knowledge of geotechnical engineering and working knowledge of related disciplines.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with technical writing and discipline-specific design software.
- Flexibility to meet various schedules and adapt to changes in the work environment.
- Ability and willingness to travel and perform field work.
- Successful completion of WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Responsible decision-making regarding company resources and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct.
- Commitment to workplace safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in Geotechnical or Tunneling Engineering.
- Engineer in Training Certification.
- Prior design and/or construction experience of highway, bridge, building, and underground projects.
- Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards.
- 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER).
- Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training.
- Active participation in local professional practice organizations.
