New York State Parks, Recreation & Historic Preservation is seeking a GIS Intern (SUNY Climate Corps/Park & Recreation Aide 4-6) to join their team at Bear Mountain State Park from May to September 2026.
About the Role
As a GIS Intern, you will support the Palisades Region in assessing and mapping infrastructure to evaluate threats from climate change and develop resiliency plans. Your responsibilities will include expanding the current database of facilities and habitats, surveying elements using GIS, and analyzing data to assist in preparing resiliency plans.
About You
Required:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree at a SUNY institution in environmental studies, GIS, or a similar discipline.
- Expertise with GPS/GIS and ability to collect data independently in various conditions.
- Valid driver's license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State.
Preferred:
- Self-motivated with good time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to initiate projects and effectively work with others.
Benefits
- Undergraduate pay rate: $19.04/hour.
- Graduate pay rate: $21.57/hour.
