Summary
The University of California, Berkeley is seeking a Group Fitness Instructor to join their Recreation & Wellbeing department in Berkeley, CA. The role involves providing instruction in non-credited recreational or sports activities to participants of all ages.
About the Role
As a Group Fitness Instructor, you will be responsible for leading group fitness classes, maintaining a supportive environment for participants, and broadening your knowledge of fitness teaching methods. You will interact positively with participants, ensure equipment is properly stored, and participate in professional training and development activities.
About You
Required:
- Working knowledge of program activity practices and procedures.
- Verbal and written communication skills in English, active listening, critical thinking, multi-tasking, time management skills, and dynamic flexibility.
- Ability to exercise independent sound judgement and employ reasoning skills.
- Client service minded, entrepreneurial spirit, and creative thinking skills.
- Basic skills in computer programs relevant to job duties.
- Knowledge of and/or can quickly learn campus policies and procedures.
- Nationally Recognized Group Fitness Certification (ACE, AFFA).
- High school diploma and/or equivalent experience/training.
Preferred:
- CPR/AED Certification.
