Hyacinth Foundation is seeking a Housing Placement Specialist to join their team in West New York, NJ. The role involves counseling customers regarding housing services and providing information and referral services to help individuals maintain stable and affordable housing.
About the Role
As a Housing Placement Specialist, you will be responsible for providing housing navigation, case management, and counseling services to customers in need of short-term housing and utility assistance. You will identify permanent housing options, assist with applications for housing assistance, and develop relationships with landlords. Your role will also include providing daily living skills training, housing retention counseling, and collaborating with medical care providers to ensure clients receive comprehensive support.
About You
Required:
- Associate's Degree in a relevant field.
- 1-3 years of experience in social services or community services.
- Active listening skills and knowledge of lease agreements.
- Ability to provide budgeting and activities of daily living (ADL) education to clients.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree and one year of previous office experience.
- Fluency in verbal and written Spanish.
- Experience working in communities in Passaic and Union Counties and the city of Trenton.
- Knowledge of housing resources and the housing market.
